Is an Internal Coaching Program the Right Solution for Your Company?

It took me two attempts and two years to secure the support for an internal coaching program. In hindsight, I see that I was swimming against a strong “anti-coaching” political current. My Human Resources business partner must have sensed this at the time. He would repeatedly ask me if I was sure I wanted to go through with my proposal. Had I thought through what the consequences might be of having the proposal accepted or declined? My response remained, “Yes, we need to do something. Our employees and managers deserve such a program, and we need to develop our talent and achieve our targets. Doing nothing is not an option.” He told me, “Okay, then I will support you. However, I am not sure where this will go and how I will be able to help you if things go wrong.”
